ARLINGTON, Texas (March 4, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team concluded their three game series with Arlington Baptist University on Saturday. The Dustdevils swept the Patriots in three straight, winning game one 15-3 and game two 8-2. TAMIU is now 8-9 overall.
Game 1: TAMIU 15, Arlington Baptist 3The key to game one was three (3) five run innings. The offensive push began in the second inning.
Mario Ramirez drove in two (2) on a double, scoring
Alexander Cabezas and
Eddie Rubalcaba.
Abel Aguilar followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring
Jacob Tello.
Jeremy Valadez concluded the inning with a two (2) RBI double. TAMIU would add five (5) in the fourth and five (5) in the seventh.
Cabezas went 2-4 with three (3) RBI and a run scored. Valadez,
Sergio Pollorena, and
Daniel Cruz each added two (2) RBI.
Eduardo Rodriguez picked up the win, moving to 2-2 on the season. Rodriguez threw five (5) innings, allowing two (2) runs on six (6) hits, striking out three (3).
Nick Perales and
Dylan Allen each threw one (1) inning in relief.
Game 2: TAMIU broke open game two in the third inning, tallying four (4) runs.
Osvaldo Rosas lined an RBI single, scoring Aguilar to start the scoring. A bases loaded walk followed by
Arturo Guajardo 2 RBI single accounted for the other three (3) runs. The Dustdevils added two (2) runs in the seventh, leading to the final score of 8-2.
Rosas, Pollorena, and Guajardo each recorded two (2) RBI in game two.
Dustin Labit picked up his first win, throwing five innings. Labit allowed just two runs on three hits, striking out seven (7). Perales and Allen each picked up another inning of relief in the game.
The Dustdevils erupted for 23 runs on the day, picking up 24 hits.
The Dustdevils will return home on Tuesday, March 8. TAMIU will take on University of the Sciences. First pitch is set for 3 pm.
