Dustdevils put up 35 runs in sweep of OPSU

GOODWELL, Oklahoma (April 2, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball finished off a three game Heartland Conference series with Oklahoma Panhandle Saturday. The Dustdevils completed the three game sweep with a 18-5 win. TAMIU is now 15-17 overall (6-6 HC).

The Dustdevils picked up their third straight win with a 18-5 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle. After five complete innings the Dustdevils found themselves with a 7-5 lead over the Aggies. The offense kicked continued rolling in the sixth and seventh for TAMIU as the Dustdevils put up 11 runs over the final two innings of the game.

Alex Medina and Nathan Halas each crossed the plate four times in the game, picking up three hits apiece. Alexander Cabezas led the Dustdevils in runs batted in, driving home five runs on two hits and a walk. Mario Ramirez picked up an additional four RBI in the game. When the dust settled seven Dustdevils drove home at least one run and four crossed the plate three or more times.

Eduardo Rodriguez got the start for TAMIU, throwing 5.1 innings. Rodriguez picked up his third win of the 2016 campaign, allowing just one earned run, striking out two. Justin Diaz threw the final 1.2 innings, allowing just two hits.

The Dustdevils next game is Tuesday, April 5. TAMIU will take on Houston Victoria at Jorge Haynes Field. First Pitch is set for 3 pm CST.
