LAREDO, Texas (April 30, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team celebrated Senior Day and closed out the home portion of the 2016 season on Saturday. The Dustdevils took on #3 St. Edward's University in game three of a Heartland Conference series. TAMIU rallied late but fell 4-6. The Dustdevils move to 16-29 overall (7-17 HC).
Trailing by five runs heading into the ninth, TAMIU rallied to plate three runs and cut the lead to two before the final out was recorded.
Alex Medina came around to score the first run on an error, putting
Jacob Tello on first.
Abel Aguilar drove in
Arturo Guajardo on an RBI single to center for te second run. Tello would come all the way around to score on a fielder choice,
Cody Perez reached first on the play.
Guajardo drove in
Nathan Halas in the seventh for TAMIU's first run of the ballgame.
Eduardo Rodriguez got the start in game three. Rodriguez tossed seven innings, striking out three.
Dylan Allen and
Daniel Edmondo each threw one inning of relief. Allen allowed one run on one hit, picking up a strikeout. Edmondo threw a scoreless ninth, striking out two.
Up next, the Dustdevils take on St. Mary's University. TAMIU travels to San Antonio, Texas to take on the Rattlers. First pitch is set for 3 pm.
