LAREDO, Texas (January 19, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team returns to Laredo after a two-week road trip on Thursday night. The Dustdevils host Newman University in the TAMIU KCB at 5:30pm.
Last Contest:
The Dustdevils (1-15 Overall/1-5 Heartland Conference) were dealt a 33-69 loss to St. Mary's in their last matchup on January 14.
Jessica Alvarez led the Dustdevils offensivley, putting up 11 points, Alvarez added one assist.
Hannah Beede and
Nayiri Aslanian each put up eight points in the game. Beede and Aslanian each added eight rebounds.
The Competition:
The Jets (12-5 Overall/2-3 Heartland Conference) come into the KCB on a 12 day break. The Jets played their last game on January 7, defeating OPSU 97-59. Hannah Alexander led the Jets with 21 points while Jazzmen Ortiz picked up six assists and four steals.
Heartland Conference:
St. Edward's currently holds the top spot in the Heartland Conference, posting a 6-1 conference record. St. Mary's and Lubbock Christian sit in the second and third spots with a 5-1 record. The Dustdevils sit seventh in the Heartland Conference Standings, in front of Rogers State and Oklahoma Panhandle. Six teams are in action on Thursday night, the full schedule can be found below:

History:
The Dustdevils defeated Newman in both contests during the 2015-16 season. TAMIU earned a 62-51 win in Wichita on January 2, returning home to defeat the Jets 58-36 on January 28. The Dustdevils and Jets have matched up 16 times, with TAMIU holding the all-time series lead 9-7.
