LAREDO, Texas (October 19, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Volleyball team hosted St. Edward's University on Thursday night in the TAMIU KCB. Despite a late comeback, TAMIU would fall 1-4. TAMIU moves to 2-19 overall and 0-7 in Heartland Conference play. 

The Dustdevils rallied down 0-2 to take a set before falling 1-3 to St. Edward's (19-25, 18-25, 25-20, 23-25). 

SET 1: TAMIU 19 - SEU 25
The Dustdevils and Hlltoppers opened the first set with a back and forth showing before SEU went on a six-point run to open a 14-7 lead. TAMIU would come back to bring the set within two before St. Edward's put the set away 25-19. 

SET 2: TAMIU 18 - SEU 25
The second set saw SEU take an early 5-1 lead which the Hilltoppers stretched to eight before TAMIU brought the set within five. The teams would trade two-point runs before SEU put the set away 25-18. 

SET 3: TAMIU 25 - SEU 20
TAMIU would start the third set with a 6-2 lead before stretching their lead to six. SEU would come back to take the lead 16-14 and again at 20-18 before TAMIU put up six straight points to take the third set, forcing a fourth set. 

SET 4: TAMIU 23 - SEU 25
The Hilltoppers would take a commanding lead early in the fourth set before TAMIU came back to tie the match at seven. The Dustdevils would use their momentum to take a 13-10 lead before stretching their lead to seven at 21-14. A four point Hilltopper rally would bring the set within four points before SEU put home the final six points of the set, taking the final set and match 1-3. 

DUSTDEVIL LEADERS:
Megan Unrath led the Dustdevils with 12 kills in the match while Leah McManus picked up four aces. Panebi Shirey picked up the lone DUstdevil block. Alejandra Bustamante recorded 15 digs while Ronnie Fountain added 30 assists.

UP NEXT:
The Dustdevils continue their two-game homestand on Saturday, October 21. TAMIU will host Dallas Baptist University in a matchup that begins at 12 p.m. in the TAMIU KCB. Following Saturday's match, a free clinic will be open to the public.
