ODESSA, Texas (February 18, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team closed out a three game series with UT-Permian Basin on Saturday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 2-3 loss, moving to 3-4 on the season.
TAMIU struck first, plating a first inning run to take a 1-0 lead.
Gavin Tristan scored on a groundout off the bat of
Sergio Pollorena. neither team would crack the runs columns again through the sixth. The Dustdevils would open a 2-0 lead on an
Alexander Cabezas RBI single.
Alex Medina scored on the play.
The Falcons would even the game in the seventh, plating two runs. UTPB would walk-off with an RBI single in the ninth.
Osvaldo Raya got the nod on the mound, tossing 6.2 innings, allowing just two runs on five hits. Raya struck out four batters.
Devon Torres took the loss, falling to 1-1. Torres tossed one and two-thirds innings, allowing the lone run in the ninth.
Abel Aguilar and
Gavin Tristan each picked up two hits in the loss. Cabezas and Pollorena picked up the Dustdevils RBI's.
Up Next:
The Dustdevils return home next weekend to take on Texas A&M Kingsville. Game one is set for Saturday, February 25 at 1pm.
