U.S. Virgin Islands (July 26, 2017) - LaShae Rolle, a transfer that will suit up for the TAMIU women's basketball team in 2017-2018, just got to experience an opportunity of a lifetime. LaShae, a 6'0 sophomore forward for the Dustdevils, just spent a week representing her home country of the Bahamas on the Senior National team that competed in the Women's CentroBasket Championship that was held in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
From July 12
th-16
th, LaShae was able to suit up and gain valuable experience as a member of the

Bahamas National Team. Playing five games in five days, LaShae averaged 1.2 points and 1 rebound per game while playing close to six minutes per game. Her best game of the tournament was a 2 point, 4 rebound performance in the opener versus Mexico.
While playing only limited minutes, TAMIU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Jeff Caha came away impressed with what Rolle was able to accomplish. "Coach T (assistant
Tori Tucker) and I were able to watch every game live as it was streamed on YouTube. As we are texting each other, the first thing we noticed was LaShae was in very good shape and her body looked great. She ran hard and competed every minute that she was in. When she was on the bench, she was up and active and cheering for her teammates," said Caha. "I was so excited for LaShae when she called and told us that she was selected. Most people do not get the opportunity to actually wear your country's jersey and represent them on a global scale. That is something that LaShae will always be able to say and take great pride in. From a basketball standpoint, she got real game experience in the summer against grown women which is hard to find. It wasn't bad pickup basketball, it was legit game action with something to play for. With the position her coach had her playing, she was able to work on some different areas of her game and expand her skill set."
LaShae and the rest of her teammates will soon report to campus as school starts August 22
nd and then look for updates as the Dustdevils Mens and Womens Basketball Teams will host Maroon Madness in October and then the women will have a home scrimmage tentatively scheduled for October 24
th vs Coastal Bend CC to kick off the 2017-2018 season.
