Bargallo’s Breaks Another Record as Dustdevils Fall to DBU, 1-0

DALLAS, Texas (September 28, 2017) – Sophomore Cio Bargallo broke another school record on Thursday night as the Texas A&M International University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Dallas Baptist. In the loss, the Dustdevils drop to 2-6-1 overall and 1-5-0 in Heartland Conference play while DBU improved to 6-2-1 (4-1-1).

Bargallo recorded a match-high six shots bringing her career total to 108 breaking Sol Medina's (2010-11, 14) record of 105. Nicole Cohen had two shots while Valeria Macias and Araceli Martinez had one a piece. Elaine Salazar (0-1-0) made two saves while allowing one goal in her first start at TAMIU.

It was the Dustdevils that got off to the fast start in Dallas with Cohen seeing her shot bloked in the 3rd minute. Bargallo recorded her first shot of the night just seven minutes later but it went wide of the goal.

Martinez recorded her only shot of the game in the 21st minute that went over the crossbar with Macias recording the Dustdevils' final shot of the first half in the 33rd minute. DBU went ahead just before halftime on a goal from Kaci Parks as she put the ball in the upper 90 from 18 yards out for her first goal for the season.

It was Bargallo who came close to equalizing for the Dustdevils at the start of the second half forcing a save from DBU's Hope Koym in the 60th minute. She continued looking for her fifth goal in three games but was once again denied by Koym in the 74th minute.

Salazar came up with a big save on DBU's Katelyn Havard in the 79th minute to keep TAMIU one goal down. The Dustdevils final chance on goal came with less than four minutes until the final whistle but Bargallo's shot was blocked.

TAMIU will make finish the weekend trip up north with a match #4 St. Edward's on Saturday, September 30. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at Lewis-Chen Family Field.
