DALLAS - Texas A&M men's basketball (3-8, 0-2 HC) fell to Dallas Baptist (6-2, 2-0 HC) in a 84-64 decision on Saturday.
Brent Finn led the Dustdevils with 19 points as well as a rebound and an assist. Danny Spinuzza put up 15 points with two rebounds, three assists and two steals. Xabier Gomez contributed 11 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal.
TAMIU raced out to a 6-0 lead to start the game, after back-to-back threes from Spinuzza, and were able to hold the lead for much of the first 10 minutes of the period. However, the Patriots battled back and took their first lead at 11-9 at 10:24. From there, DBU managed to built up to their first double-digit lead of the game at 25-14 with just over four minutes left in the half, and took a 36-23 lead into the intermission.
The second half was all DBU as they pushed out to their largest lead of the game at 74-38 with just over nine minutes left. However, the Dustdevils refused to quit fighting and tried to mount a comeback, slowly trimming the deficit, but ran out of time with the Patriots taking an 84-64 win.
TAMIU will be back in action as they travel to Maryville, Mo. on Tuesday, Dec. 18 to face off against Northwest Missouri State.
