LAREDO, Texas (March 10, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team closed out a four-game series with Lubbock Christian University on Saturday. The series concluded in a doubleheader that saw TAMIU take game one (7-6), and fall in game two (5-8). With the split, TAMIU moves to 8-9 overall.
GAME 1: TAMIU 7 - LCU 6
Ruben Solis took the mound in game one for the Dustdevils, tossing six and a third innings. Solis picked up a strikeout while four runs crossed the plate.
Mauro Luna and
Justin Diaz each tossed one third of an inning in relief of Solis. The Dustdevil bats came around late in the first game as TAMIU picked up six runs in the last three innings, to seal a walk-off victory, courtesy of

Highlights:
First run across: Unlike game one and two of the series, TAMIU would put up the first run on Saturday. The Dustdevils struck first with an RBI single from
Matthew Rosales, scoring
Jorge Napoles.
Solis Strong: Ruben Solis tossed the longest outing of the weekend for TAMIU. While four runs crossed the plate, Solis kept an LCU team at bay who put up a combined 19 runs in the first six innings of game one and two on Friday.
1-2-3 is a Win for Me: The Dustdevils pushed across six runs in the final three innings of play in game one. Down 1-3 in the fifth, the Dustdevils cut the lead to one after
Alex Cabezas reached first on an error, scoring
Mario Ramirez. TAMIU tied the game in the sixth with a sacrifice squeeze from
Kobrey Garcia, scoring
Abel Aguilar.
TAMIU would take the lead in the sixth with a second run after Ramirez reached on an error, scoring pinch runner
Adrian Castillo.
Don't Back Down: LCU would take the lead back in the final frame of a seven inning contest, putting up three runs before the Dustdevils delivered their second walk-off of the season. The walk-off would turn a blown save into a win for
Justin Diaz, his second of the season.
The Final Frame: TAMIU scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pick up a 7-6 victory over the Chaps, earning Diaz his second win of the season.
Jorge Napoles brought the game within a run driving home
Ricky Gonzalez on an RBI single to right field. Ramirez would seal the deal with a walk-off single up the middle, scoring
Fernando Contreras and Napoles as TAMIU claimed win eight on the season.
GAME 2: TAMIU 5 - LCU 8
Kyle Kieschnick got the nod in the series finale, tossing three innings. Kieschnick would take the loss, moving to 1-3.
Mark Trimble tossed three innings in relief, two runs scored but both were unearned.
Coleman Butler struck out four in two innings of relief before
Arnulfo Salinas tossed the final frame.
Highlights:
4 of 6: Coleman Butler would pick up four of six outs via the strikeout while facing 10 batters in two innings of work.
2 for 20 Saturday's at Jorge Haynes: Despite the split, TAMIU picked up 20 hits in two games on Saturday. The Dustdevils used nine hits to score seven runs in the game one victory while TAMIU tallied 11 hits in the game two loss.
Spread it out: Of TAMIU's three RBI in game two, each came from a different Dustdevil. Cabezas, Gonzalez, and Contreras each drove home a run.
We'll Meet Again: The Dustdevils and Chaps will meet again April 13 and 14 for a four-game Heartland Conference series. The series will be played in Lubbock.

The Dustdevils close out non-conference play next week as TAMIU takes on St. Mary's University in a four game set. First pitch on Friday, March 16 is set for 2:00 p.m.
