SAN ANTONIO, Texas (March 16, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team opened a four-game road series against St. Mary's on Friday. The Dustdevils fell 0-5 and 1-7, moving to 8-11 overall this season.
GAME 1: TAMIU 0 - StMU 5
Hugo Mendiola would get the nod in the series opener, tossing five innings on the mound. Mendiola kept the Rattlers in check through four complete innings, allowing just a run. StMU would put up three runs in the fifth, opening a four-run lead over the Dustdevils.
Justin Diaz tossed an inning of relief.
Ricky Gonzalez stood out at the plate for TAMIU as the only Dustdevil to pick up multiple hits. Gonzalez went 2-3 at the plate.
Mario Ramirez,
Adrian Castillo, and
Abel Aguilar would pick up the other three hits for TAMIU.
GAME 2: TAMIU 1 - StMU 7
Eric Cleveland took the mound in game two of the series. Cleveland tossed three and a third on the mound, taking the loss and moving to 1-2 on the season.
Mark Trimble and
Coleman Butler would each toss an inning and a third in relief. Both allowed just one hit while Trimble picked up a pair of strikeouts.
Mauro Luna tossed the final two innings for the Dustdevils, striking out a pair of Rattlers.
The Dustdevils got on the board first in game two after an RBI single from Aguilar. Aguilar would bring home
Ricky Gonzalez on a single to center. The Rattlers put up four runs in the fourth, two in the sixth, and opened a six-run lead in the eighth after picking up their seventh run of the game.

The Dustdevils close out the series on Saturday with a seven/nine-inning doubleheader at Dickson Stadium. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
