CLAREMORE, Oklahoma (March 31, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team concluded play in a four-game series with Rogers State on Saturday. The Dustdevils took game one, before falling in game two. With the Saturday split, TAMIU splits the four-game season series with RSU at two games per side. The Dustdevils move to 11-18 overall and 3-5 in the Heartland Conference.
GAME 1: TAMIU 6 - RSU 3
Ruben Solis got the nod in game one, tossing five inning where the Junior struck out three Hillcats. Solis allowed just one earned run but took the no decision.
After falling behind 0-1, TAMIU rallied to put up three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a two-run lead into the final inning and a half.
Mauro Luna would toss the sixth inning. RSU clawed back into the game at three before the Dustdevils used late heroics to take the lead back in the seventh.
Mathew Trevino doubled down the left-field line with the bases loaded, bringing in
Abel Aguilar,
Jorge Napoles, and
Ricky Gonzalez. Trevino's three RBI double, put TAMIU ahead 6-3 with RSU facing their last at-bats of game one.
Coleman Butler relieved Luna without allowing a hit, picking up the save. Luna would be credited with the game one win.
GAME 2: TAMIU 5 - RSU 9
Erick Garay took the mound in the series finale, tossing three innings. Garay struck out four but four runs would cross the plate before
Kyle Kieschnick relieved Garay in the fourth. Kieschnick tossed two innings, striking out a pair of Hillcats.
The Dustdevils picked up their first run of the game in the seventh after
Jorge Napoles drove home Ceasar Espinoza on an RBI single, cutting the lead to eight.
Nicholas Montemayor tossed the final three innings, striking out three in his season debut.
TAMIU picked up four runs in the eighth to cut the lead to five.

The Dustdevils return home for their next series as TAMIU hosts Oklahoma Christian at Jorge Haynes Field. The four-game set begins on April 6 at 1:00 p.m. The first 100 fans will receive a free "It's On Us" fidget Spinner.
