AUSTIN, Texas (May 6, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team concluded play in the regular season with a doubleheader against St. Edward's University on Sunday. The Dustdevils fell 0-12 in game one and 2-3 in game two.
GAME 1: TAMIU 0 - SEU 12
Kyle Kieschnick started game one for the Dustdevils on Sunday. The senior tossed three and a third, striking out one in the loss.
Mark Trimble recorded an out before
Justin Diaz tossed the final two and a third for TAMIU on the bump.
All three Dustdevil pitchers recorded one strikeout.
The Dustdevils recorded two hits in the game, relying on the middle of the TAMIU order for the production.
Ricky Gonzalez and
Jorge Napoles each recorded a hit.
GAME 2: TAMIU 2 - SEU 3
The Dustdevils looked to split the weekend series with
Erick Garay on the mound in game two. Garay went six and a third in his longest outing of the season. Despite being tagged with the loss, Garay allowed just four hits and two earned runs while striking out two.
Nick Montemayor tossed the final inning and two-thirds for the Dustdevils, retiring all four batters he faced.
St. Edward's would strike first, putting up a pair of runs in the first to go ahead 2-0.
Abel Aguilar brought the game within one run in the third, driving home
Fernando Contreras on an RBI single.
The Hilltoppers would extend the lead to two runs in the seventh before TAMIU tallied their second run of the ballgame.
