LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas A&M International (2-6, 1-5 HC) couldn't overcome an early 1-0 deficit, as they fell to Lubbock Christian (4-6, 3-3 HC) on Saturday.
"LCU took advantage of a defensive mistake off a corner to score," Head Coach Felipe Arias said. "Freshman Elena Rivera had an outstanding game in the goal for us however!"Â
LCU got to work early in the match as Allison Scott headed in the game's only goal in the ninth minute off a corner kick from Haley Knesek.Â
The story of the match outside of the early goal however, was the Chaps outshooting TAMIU 21-2, with eight shots on goal for LCU compared to none by the Dustdevils.Â
The bright spot of the match for the Dustdevils was the performance of Keeper Elena Rivera who, after giving up the early goal, logged seven saves on the day.
TAMIU will return home on Thursday, Oct. 4 as St. Edward's comes to Laredo for a Heartland Conference matchup at 5 p.m.Â
