Stephenville, Texas -Â Texas A&M International volleyball (5-17, 3-12 LSC) fell to Tarleton (17-9, 10-5 LSC) in a 3-0 decision (15-25, 17-25, 22-25) on Friday.
Sophomore Mackenzie Catalina led the Dustdevils with 10 kills as well as five digs, a block and an assist. Sophomore Maison Kosse posted 26 assists with a dig, a service ace, a block and a kill. Senior Hannah Semon contributed 15 digs.
The Texans jumped out to a 3-1 lead to start the match. However, TAMIU found their footing and briefly took the lead at 6-5. TSU responded with a 10-3 run to retake the advantage 15-9. From their they ripped off a 6-2 run to push out to 21-11. They eventually took the set 25-15.
In the second set, the Texans opened on a 6-2 run. The Dustdevils battled back to pull within one point at 7-6. Unfortunately, that would be as close as they would get as TSU immediately won the next four points to go up 11-6. They pushed out to 18-12, and eventually took the set 25-17.
The third set began close with five lead changes and seven ties midway through the frame. The Texans began to pull away thanks to a 6-2 run that gave them a 16-13 lead. TAMIU would tie things up again though at 19-19. Things grew close for the remainder of the set, until TSU took the final three points to seal the win with a 25-22 decision.
The Dustdevils will close out the regular season road schedule on Saturday, Nov. 9 as they travel to Dallas, Texas for a matchup with DBU.Â
