CLAREMORE, Okla. -Â Texas A&M International University softball (16-23, 10-11 Heartland Conference) dropped a Heartland Conference doubleheader against Rogers State University (26-12, 13-6 Heartland Conference) on Friday afternoon.
Game 1: Rogers State 1, Texas A&M International 0
The first game of the twin bill was a pitcher's duel between Dustdevils starter, Jenika Lombrana and Hillcats starter, Andrea Morales. Lombrana threw her 13th complete game of the season and surrendered a pair of hits while allowing just one run while striking out five Hillcats and walked two batters.
Although Lombrana had a stellar day in the circle for TAMIU, Danelle Day smacked a solo home run over the left center field fence which would be the lone run of the game.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Dustdevils tried to avoid the shutout when Melanie Gamboa hit a leadoff double to right center field, Denise Longoria, Maya Paul and Morgan Chavarria could not capitalize with a runner in scoring position.
For Rogers State, Morales tossed a complete game shutout to secure her 18th win of the season. She struck out seven Dustdevils while allowing three hits en route to the 1-0 home victory for the Hillcats.

Game 2: Rogers State 2, Texas A&M International 0 Â
In the second game of the twin bill, the home team broke the scoring ice the same way as the first game as Day (2-for-3, RBI, R) hit another solo blast to give Rogers State a 1-0 edge in the bottom of the third inning. Later in the inning, Taylor Santistevan hit a sacrifice fly off of Dustdevil starter,
Melanie Lint (L, 2-5: 6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, K, 2 BB) that brought home Mikayla Waggnor to extend their lead to two (2-0).
In the top of the third frame,
Alyssa Contreras and Lint singled off of Hillcats starter, Tailee Reding (W, 2-1: 7 IP, 4 H, 3 K) however no runs would cross home in the inning.
In the sixth inning, both teams were sent down in order as Lint and Reding were both locked in.
Reding would ultimately hang on and secure the complete game 2-0 shutout victory for the Hillcats.
The Dustdevils wrap up the three-game set at Rogers State University (26-12, 13-6 Heartland Conference) on Saturday, March 30 at 12 p.m.
