LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas A&M International men's basketball (1-10, 1-7 LSC) fell to No. 16 Lubbock Christian (7-0, 7-0 LSC) in a 86-38 decision on the road Friday.
Senior Jacob Pfaffinger led the Dustdevils with a season-high 12 points to go along with five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Sophomore Darian Gibson posted 10 points with seven rebounds and an assist. Senior Matija Novkovic contributed seven points with five rebounds and an assist.
The Chaps controlled the game from the opening tip, going off on a 22-2 run to start the game. The Dustdevils attempted to get back into it as they managed to trim the lead to 26-11 with just over six minutes left in the half. However, LCU took control again and carried a 40-16 advantage into the intermission.
The second half didn't get any better for TAMIU as the Chaps crossed the 30-point deficit mark just over two minutes into the final period with a 47-17 lead. LCU took their largest lead of the game at 86-36 with under minute left, and won with an 86-38 decision.
Both teams with face off again tomorrow in the series finale at 5:30 p.m.
