PORTALES, N.M. – Texas A&M International volleyball opened its weekend road stretch in Portales, N.M against Eastern New Mexico, falling in five sets to the Greyhounds (5-15, 5-7 LSC), 3-2.

Set one was all Eastern New Mexico, opening the contest with a 25-12 set victory.

The Dustdevils (3-16, 3-9 LSC) bounced back in set two, winning by a score of 25-22. TAMIU held the lead by three of four mush of the set early, but the Greyhounds bounced back to make things even and back-and-forth for the majority of the set. The Dustdevils reopened a four-point lead late, holding of a flurry by Eastern New Mexico at the end.

In set three, it was the Greyhounds taking a 25-19 final to make it a 2-1 lead. TAMIU jumped ahead 7-4, but ultimately as things went back to even midway through, it was Easter New Mexico's 4-0 run when tied at 17 that helped decide the set.

Set four saw the Dustdevils cruise ahead and send the game to a deciding fifth set after a 25-17 victory. TAMIU jumped ahead 10-4 and continued to coast, leading 21-11 at one point in the set, before closing out the set victory.

The fifth and final set was a heartbreaker for the Dustdevils, who lead early, but the Greyhounds crept back into it. Tied at 10 late in the set, Eastern New Mexico would go on a game clinching 5-1 run to close out TAMIU 15-11.

Mackenzie Catalina continued her strong stretch, totaling 14 kills, while graduate transfer
Ilina Spasova contributed 12 kills.

Spasova lead the team with 18 digs, while sophomore
Daniela Sandoval added 15 and Catalina with 13. Senior
Maison Kosse assisted 38 of the 47 Dustdevil kills.

TAMIU closes its road trip on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Canyon, Texas. #25 West Texas A&M is the next opponent for the Dustdevils and the match begins at 2 p.m.
