LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer (2-2, 1-1 LSC) battled to overtime against St. Mary's (3-2, 1-1 LSC) and came out victorious 1-0, thanks to freshman
Leianna Jimenez's golden goal.
In the opening half, it was TAMIU who was the main aggressor, despite the scoreless tie at halftime.

The Dustdevils had a total of six shots in the first 45 minutes, putting four on net. On the other end, the Rattlers managed just three shots with all of them on target.

The roles reversed in the second half as it was St. Mary's who dominated the shot chart. In the final 45 minutes of regulation, the Rattlers had eight shots, with six of them on goal. The Dustdevils had just three shots in the second half, with two of them on net.

In the first overtime, a St. Mary's foul led to a free kick for TAMIU. Senior
Valeria Macias took free kick and put it into the Rattlers box. Sophomore
Vivian Martinez got a touch on the ball and found Jimenez who buried the shot just 2:36 into the overtime for the win.

Andrea Castellanos led the way with three shots a piece, with Castellanos leading the team in shots on goal with two.

Alicia Huerta was fantastic in net for the Dustdevils. In her first collegiate game, Huerta recorded a clean sheet and saved all 10 shots the Rattlers put on goal.

The Dustdevils now prepare for their final road trip of the spring season as they travel to Odessa, Texas to face UT Permian Basin. Kickoff against the Falcons is slated for 5 p.m. on March 17.
