LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer (3-2-1, 2-1-1 LSC) scored just 12 minutes in and then added two penalty kick goals in 2:33 seconds midway through the second half to defeat Lubbock Christian (4-3, 2-2 LSC) for the first time in program history.
TAMIU opened the game in control of the attack and took the lead 1-0 at just the 12:00 mark of the first half.

The Lady Chaps upped the pressure late in the first half, but the score stayed 1-0 at the half.

All scoring in the second half for the Dustdevils came thanks to penalty kicks.

Andrea Castellanos netted the penalty kick to score her second goal of the season to make it 2-0. Just 2:33 later, at 70:53, TAMIU drew another penalty shot and senior
Valeria Macias capitalized to make it 3-0 on her second goal of the season.

For the game, the Dustdevils were outshot by the Lady Chaps 17-11 and in shots on goal, 9-6. Corner kicks were also in favor of the Lady Chaps, 5-0.

Grant led the way offensively with four shots taken, putting two on the net and earning the assist on the first goal. Castellanos followed behind with three shots and one on goal, while St. Louis (two shots, one on target), Macias (one shot on goal) and sophomore
Izabella Correa (one shot on goal) rounded out the sheet.

Alicia Huerta continued her stellar play in net for the Dustdevils, stopping all nine shots that came her way for her second clean sheet in just her third start.
TAMIU concludes its regular season on March 31, when they welcome Angelo State to Laredo for Senior Night. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
