RICHARDSON, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball juniors Mackenzie Catalina and Regina Tijerina were named to the Spring 2021 All-Lone Star Conference team. Catalina was also named to the LSC Volleyball All-Academic team. The all-conference honors were selected by the league's head coaches.
Catalina, a native Cedar Park, Texas, was an offensive force for the Dustdevils, helping them to their first postseason berth since 2012. In 17 matches with 17 starts, she averaged a team-high 4.78 kills per set (311 total) with 195 digs, 20 blocks, eight assists and seven service aces. The junior led the conference in kills and points (5.07 per set, 329.5 total) and ranked 14th in hitting percentage (.244). An Accounting major, Catalina holds a GPA above 3.70.
Tijerina, a native of Brownsville, Texas, led the Dustdevil defense with 17 starts in 17 matches. She led the team with 4.87 digs per set (302 total) as well as service aces (22) in addition to 53 assists and four kills. She ranked sixth in the conference in digs and seventh in service aces.
