Dustdevils Sweep Eagles to Win Third Straight

Laredo, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball earned its third win in a row on Monday night at home with a 3-0 sweep over the Oklahoma Christian Eagles, winning 25-13, 25-19 and 25-8.

The first set was a back-and-forth affair through the beginning stages with the Dustdevils holding a 14-12 lead before turning on the offense and going on an 11-1 to seal the set. Presley Vaitai sealed the set with a kill.

Oklahoma Christian held a 12-10 lead in the second set, but TAMIU found its grove, going on an 8-2 run to take an 18-14 lead and another 6-2 run to take a 24-18 lead before Mia Molina delivered the set-winning kill.

 The Dustdevils jumped out to a strong start in the third and final set, leading 18-4 early on. The ended on a 6-0 run and forced an attacking error to seal the match.

Ariana Guerra led TAMIU with 12 kills and Molina and Vaitai added nine each.

Lizai Perez served three aces and Jasmin Garcia led the Dustdevils with three blocks.

Emma Lade dished out 36 assists and Giulia Hortelan totaled 26 digs.

TAMIU is now 10-5 on the season and 2-1 in LSC play. The Dustdevils will be in action next at 2 p.m. on Saturday at UAFS.
