Vancouver, B.C., Canada - The Dustdevil Women's Basketball Team opened the season at the Canadian Tip-Off Classic in Vancouver, B.C., Canada with a dominating win over the University of Alaska Fairbanks, 83-47. The Dustdevils shot an impressive 42.5% from the field and 40.7% from 3-point range.
Bridgette Tello led the team in scoring with 17 points and contributed 2 steals.
Ngozi Obineke had a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. and was the Dustdevil Player of the Game.Â
Samiyah Worrell contributed 11 points and 3 rebounds on the night.
Emily Swiercz had an efficient game, shooting 100% from the field and making key defensive plays with 3 steals. In all, the Dustdevils showcased remarkable depth, with 52 bench points and 45 total rebounds.
The Nanooks struggled to find their rhythm, shooting only 31.8% from the field and 18.8% from beyond the arc. Ellen Silva led the Nanooks with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
The Dustdevils are back in action Saturday, November 4 against Central Washington University at 2:15pm CST.
