TAMIU Volleyball Adds Molina To Open 2023 Recruiting Class

LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International head volleyball coach Brittany Harry announced the signing of Mia Molina, a 5'11" outside hitter, to the 2023 recruiting class on Thursday.

"We are so ecstatic to add Mia to our team for the fall," stated Coach Harry. "We have watched her grow on the court as a player and great leader for United High School and we knew that we wanted her wearing a TAMIU jersey next season. She brings a wealth of experience and winning tradition that we are happy to add to our program."

A native Laredoan, Molina joins TAMIU after a decorated career at United High School where she earned numerous accolades over her career.

As a freshman in 2019, Molina earned 30-6A Second Team All-District honors, and followed that her sophomore year being named 30-6A Blocker of the Year.

Molina's junior campaign in 2021 garnered her 30-6A Hitter of the Year status, while also being named Hitter of the Year and All-Academic by the Laredo Morning Times.

Molina rounded out her high school career this past fall, earning her second consecutive 30-6A Hitter of the Year honor, finishing the season with 558 kills, ranking 10th in 6A in the state of Texas according to MaxPreps. She also earned Co-MVP status by both the Laredo Morning Times and KGNS.

Volleyball runs in the Molina family, as her mother Maricela played at Eastern New Mexico, a current member of the Lone Star Conference from 1998-99, where she helped lead the Greyhounds to a 49-20 record over those two years and two LSC Tournament trips, compiling 541 kills, 354 total blocks and a hitting percentage above .240.

Molina will pursue a degree in Kinesiology, and she chose TAMIU because of her love of the campus and the opportunity to continue her playing career in Laredo. She loves the Dustdevil volleyball program, the coaches, and the team.
