LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International head volleyball coach
Brittany Harry announced the signing of Sierra Long, a 5'10" outside hitter, to the 2023 class on Friday.
"Sierra is an athlete," said Coach Harry. "Not only did she excel on the volleyball court for Punahou in Hawaii, but she is also a dual sport athlete running track. Sierra is a very driven player who played club this season for Spike and Serve Volleyball which was founded by Kevin Wong, a US Beach Olympian. She is an incredibly athletic outside hitter and will bring great athleticism and energy to that position."
A native Pearl City, Hawaii, Long joins the Dustdevils after a strong career at Pearl City High School.
Long ended her high school career as a three-time Pearl City High School Offensive Player of the Year (2020-22), while also earning 2021 Hawaii Girls Volleyball Honorable Mention.
Furthermore, in 2021, Long was named a Spectrum OC 16 High School Girls Volleyball Impact Player.
Long's club volleyball experience was as a member of Spike and Serve, founded by Olympian Kevin Wong as previously noted by Coach Harry.
Academically, Long was stellar in the classroom, making the Pearl City High School Principal's List all four years, doing so with a GPA above 3.9, while also being a three-year member of the National Honors Society.
Long will pursue a degree in Kinesiology, and she chose TAMIU because of the work ethic and energy put out by TAMIU athletics every day and how TAMIU could become a second home with the family dynamic heavily displayed among the students.
