Laredo, Texas - In a nail-biting volleyball clash, the Texas A&M International Dustdevils emerged victorious against the Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas on Wednesday in a thrilling four-set match that kept the crowd of 250 fans at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building on the edge of their seats.
Key performers for the Dustdevils included Presley Vaitai who came up big when it mattered most, delivering 14 kills and anchoring the defense with 14 digs, accumulating 15 points. Emma Lade showcased her skill as the setter with 48 assists, helping her team orchestrate their attacks.
Ariana Guerra proved to be a formidable presence on the court, amassing an impressive 20 kills, earning her 20 points. Mia Molina was another standout player for the Dustddevils, contributing 13 kills and 2 blocks for a total of 14 points.
The match was a rollercoaster of excitement, with each set offering its own drama. In the opening set, the Dustdevils managed to edge out the Javelinas, winning 29-27. The Javelinas fought back in the second set, leveling the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 set victory. The Dustdevils bounced back to win the third set 25-18 and with the match hanging in the balance, the Dustdevils showcased their resilience and determination, dominating the fourth set with a score of 25-20, sealing the match victory.
TAMIU is now 9-5 on the season and will be in action next at 6 p.m. on Monday at home against Oklahoma Christian.
