Laredo, Texas – The Dustdevils battled with the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs Saturday night. After a hard-fought game by both teams, the Dustdevils came out with a 2-0 victory at home.
The Dustdevils got on the board first when a foul on Kyndahl Britton led to a penalty kick goal by
Candela Gonzalez in the 14
th minute. West Texas A&M recorded four shots in the first half, with two on target, but TAMIU goalkeeper
Claramalia Pederson held the Lady Buffs to zero going into halftime.
In the second half, the Dustdevils doubled their lead with a goal by
Gabriela Mendez-Ortiz in the 55
th minute.
Pederson recorded four saves in the second half to keep the Lady Buffs scoreless.
After a big win at home on Saturday, the Dustdevils look to keep the momentum going as they head into Wednesday's match against Angelo State at home on Oct. 9
th. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
