Laredo, Texas- The Texas A&M International Dustdevils took to the court on Friday night to take on the Chadron State Eagles. The Dustdevils were just returning from a tournament in Montana where they played great levels of competition and tonight would be no different. The Dustdevils are 5-2 all-time against the Eagles.
The Dustdevils were off to a quick start as they jumped out to a 6-0 start to open up the game after some baskets made by
Esteban Roacho and
Anthony Ignowski. TAMIU would take its biggest lead on the night with four minutes left to go in the first half, as the Dustdevils were up 27-20. The Eagles would fight back to clear that deficit as the first half ended with the Dustdevils only up one point at halftime (32-31).
Free throw shooting would be much of the tale for the second half. Both teams suffered from foul trouble. Neither team could pull away from the other as the point differential stayed at seven for the entire game. The Eagles would go on to pull past the Dustdevils late and grab the win 72-68.
Anthony Ignowski led the way for the Dustdevils. The guard had 24 points, two steals, four assists and three rebounds. Ignowski shot over 80% percent on the night from the field.
Emaniel Alexandre came up big for the Dustdevils with 15 points, two steals, two rebounds and three assists on the night. The Dustdevils shot 22-48 from the field, 6-18 from the three-point line and were 18-30 from the charity stripe.
The Dustdevil Men's Basketball team will be back in action tomorrow against South Dakota Mines at 6:00 PM.
