Laredo, Texas- It was Lone Star Conference basketball action on Sunday as the TAMIU Dustdevils Men's Basketball team took on the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds. The Dustdevils went into the match 5-6 on the season while the Greyhounds entered today's contest 6-2. It is the start of Christmas break at the University but there was still a crowd of people to help support the Dustdevils. Last year the score was 68-66 and was nail biting. This year would be no different.

The entire gym was filled with electricity as everyone was excited to see the talent that the two teams had in store. The first half was back and forth action. Eastern New Mexico was the first to strike as they took a quick 5-0 early lead in the game. However, TAMIU muscled back.
Omarion Shackelford hit a three in the last few seconds to give TAMIU the lead 31-27 going into the half. The entire second half was much of the same. During the entire game, there were 11 lead changes and 10 ties between the two foes. With 3:13 left, TAMIU took the lead after an
Anthony Ignowski three pointer. The Dustdevils were up by eleven 66-55 and most people thought it was over. However, the Greyhounds battled back hard to force overtime. Jose Murillo of ENMU had quite a night for the Greyhounds. During overtime, he showed why he is arguably one of the more talented big men in the conference. Murillo put the Greyhounds up two with less than a minute left. The score was 78-76 in favor of the Greyhounds and TAMIU needed an answer. Each team went scoreless for almost a minute until
Isaiah Somers nailed a triple with the shot clock winding down to put the Dustdevils up one point with 17 seconds to go. ENMU called timeout and decided to run out the clock to go for the win. Mario Whitley was the player chosen to try to deliver the upset but that was until
Duncan Alevok sent his shot attempt flying out of bounds. Alevok's last second blocked shot helped seal the deal for the Dustdevils.

The Dustdevils finished with 39 percent shooting from the field, 30 percent from downtown and 74 percent from the charity stripe.

Emaniel Alexandre led all Dustdevils in rebounds tonight with 11.
Isaiah Somers not only hit what would end up as the game winning shot but led TAMIU in steals with 3.
