Laredo, Texas – In the final home game of the 2024 season, the Dustdevils took on the #5 UT Tyler Patriots in game three of their Lone Star Conference series where UT Tyler came away with the 11-1 victory in five innings.
UTT brought in one run in the second inning courtesy of a fielder's choice, but it was the Patriots' eight-run third inning that made the difference. In the top half of the third, the Patriots brought in eight runs on seven hits after sending 13 hitters to the plate.
The Patriots scored their final two runs in the top of the fourth.
Tessa Ramirez started the game on the mound for the Dustdevils and pitched 2.0 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits.
Celeste Apaez pitched two innings in relief allowing six runs on five hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Zakayia Fredrick closed out the game for TAMIU pitching one inning and allowing no runs on no hits with one strikeout.
The TAMIU bats were again led by
Kennedy Griego's two-hit day, and it was a single from
Victoria Espinoza that brought in the lone run for TAMIU.
The Dustdevils close out the season on April 26-27 as they travel to Wichita Falls to take on Midwestern State.
