Wichita Falls, Texas – The Dustdevils traveled to Wichita Falls to face the MSU Mustangs in the final series of the 2024 season. The Mustangs took both games of Friday's doubleheader by scores of 4-2 and 8-0.
Game One
Carla Arellano got the start for TAMIU and six of the first seven hitters she faced. A groundout to shortstop in the bottom of the third gave MSU an early 1-0 lead.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Mustangs until a double from 
Alana Garcia brought home 
Victoria Espinoza and 
Eva Garcia to put the Dustdevils in front 2-0.
The Mustangs walked it off in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run home run, earning the 4-2 victory.
Arellano pitched 6.1 innings and allowed four runs on just three hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
The Dustdevils had four hits in the contest behind two-hit efforts from both 
Zaria Brigham and 
Alana Garcia.
Game Two
The Mustangs kept the momentum on their side for game two of Friday's doubleheader.
MSU scored two runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings securing the 8-0 victory.
Kylie Goad got the start on the mound for TAMIU and pitched two innings and allowed four runs on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
Zakayia Fredrick and 
Celeste Apaez both pitched in relief. Fredrick pitched three innings allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Apaez allowed two runs on two hits.
The Dustdevils close out the 2024 season Saturday against the Mustangs with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.
