Dustdevils Fall In OT Thriller

Alpine, Texas- The Dustdevils took to Alpine to take on Sul Ross State University. The Dustdevils entered the evening 9-11 overall and 4-8 in the conference. This is the first time these two teams have met in TAMIU Men's Basketball history.

The Dustdevils took full command in the first half outscoring the Lobos 39-28 in the first quarter as the Dustdevils were red hot offensively. However, the Lobos would fight back and tie the game in the second half to lead the game into overtime. The Lobos outscored the Dustdevils 46-35 to force overtime. It would go down to the wire, but the Lobos would go on to outscore the Dustdevils 8-5 in OT to secure the victory.

TAMIU shot 29-62 from the field, 6-18 from three and 15-27 from the free throw line. TAMIU ended the game with 22 bench points. Overall, there were five lead changes and six ties during the game. Anthony Ignowski led the way in points with 22, seven rebounds, three steals and four assists. Duncan Alevok and Filip Mamic led the teams with blocks with one each. Isaiah Somers (15) and Eli Bailey (13) also helped fuel TAMIU's offense, scoring in the double digits.

TAMIU will be back in action January 25th against WNMU away at 4:00 PM CDT.
