Dustdevils Fall To Hilltoppers

Austin, Texas- The Dustdevils bounced back off the break into Lone Star Conference action as they took on the St. Edwards University Hilltoppers. The Dustdevils entered the match 7-7 overall while the Hilltoppers entered the evening at 8-5. The Recreation and Convocation Center in Austin was buzzing as they were getting ready to watch these two foes jump back into action after Christmas break.

The first half was tip for tap action as Esteban Roacho hit a three assisted by Elijah Bailey to go up 15-11 against the Hilltoppers. It was a back and forth first half as the Hilltoppers narrowly went into the locker room with a four-point lead over TAMIU at the half. TAMIU would shoot 39% from the field and came out the second half shooting 41.5% from the field. However, the Hilltopper offense was on fire as they shot 50.9 % from the field, 53.8% from three-point land, and 80% from the free throw line. The strong shooting night from the Hilltoppers would prove to be too much as they outlasted the Dustdevils 69-53.
 
The Dustdevils shot 41.5% from the field, 28.6% from three and 33.3% from the free throw line while only attempting three the entire evening. There was eleven lead changes on the evening and twenty four bench points for the Dustdevils. The Dustdevils were led in scoring by Emaniel Alexandre who finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Alexandre also led the Dustdevils in rebounds.Filip Mamic led the Dustdevils in blocks with two. Anthony Ignowski led the Dustdevils in assists with five. It was a well-balanced effort from the Dustdevils offensively.
 
The Dustdevils move to 7-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference on the season. The Dustdevils will return to action against St. Mary's Sunday at 3:00 PM CDT.
