Laredo, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball fell 3–1 (10–25, 19–25, 25–21, 13–25) to Lubbock Christian on Friday evening inside the Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
Despite a slow start in the opening set, the Dustdevils showed improvement in the second, finding more consistency on the attack behind
Mia Molina and
Danea King, before carrying that momentum into the third.
The third frame marked TAMIU's best stretch of the night, fueled by an impressive performance from freshman
Sierra Sanchez, who provided a spark off the bench. Sanchez tallied six kills, 11 digs, and added a service ace — with several key plays during the third and fourth sets that kept TAMIU in contention. Her energy at the net and in the back row helped lift the Dustdevils to a 25–21 win in the third set, their strongest of the night.
Lubbock Christian regrouped in the fourth to close out the match, but Sanchez continued to make her presence felt with timely digs and attacks that highlighted her all-around impact.
Offensively, Molina led TAMIU with 17 kills and 14 digs for a double-double, while King chipped in five kills and two blocks. Setters
Natalia Cisneros and
Dilean Bounds combined for 42 assists on the evening.
TAMIU (3–16, 1–9 LSC) is back in action Saturday afternoon against Midwestern State. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
