Dustdevils fall to Comets on Senior Night

Laredo, Texas – The Texas A&M International University women's soccer team battled hard on Saturday night but fell 1-0 to Texas-Dallas at Dustdevil Soccer Field.

The Dustdevils held strong defensively throughout the first half, keeping the Comets off the board thanks to several key saves from goalkeeper Latae Rodriguez, who finished the match with 11 saves on 12 shots on goal.

Despite being outshot 19-7, TAMIU created second-half chances of their own with looks from Tove Thornholm, Fredes Manrique, and Anessa Barrera, but the equalizer didn't come. Texas-Dallas netted the game's only goal in the 62nd minute.

TAMIU's back line, anchored by Valeria Olivas Maldonado, Ana Lucia Arroyo Azofeifa, and Adamaris Manjarrez, held firm against consistent pressure, keeping the Dustdevils within striking distance throughout the match.

The Dustdevils move to 2-4-2 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play.

TAMIU plays its next game at home on Oct. 8 against Lubbock Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Dustdevil Soccer Field.
