Tyler, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer showed fight throughout but came up short in a 3-0 loss to undefeated UT Tyler on Saturday evening at the Citizens First Bank–Perkins Soccer Complex.
The Dustdevils generated nine shots in the match, placing four on goal.
Adamaris Manjarrez was active in the attack, recording two shots on target, while
Fredes Manrique Sanchez and
Kimberly Limon also challenged the Patriots' goalkeeper.
Defensively, TAMIU limited UT Tyler to just three first-half shots outside of their two scoring strikes, settling in as the match progressed. Goalkeeper
Maria Melendez made a second-half save and commanded the back line against a Patriots offense that has yet to be beaten this season.
Laura Cardenas and
Ana Lucia Arroyo Azofeifa anchored the midfield and defensive efforts with steady minutes, while newcomers like
Natasha Goodwin and
Caroline Jensen provided depth off the bench.
The Dustdevils move to 1-2-2 (0-1-1 LSC) and stay on the road to face UT Permian Basin on September 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
