Odessa, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer picked up a 1-0 win on the road Thursday night, defeating UT Permian Basin behind a second-half penalty kick from
Laura Cardenas.
Cardenas delivered the difference-maker in the 72nd minute, calmly converting from the spot to put the Dustdevils in front.
On the other end, goalkeeper
Latae Rodriguez turned in a perfect performance, stopping all four shots she faced to secure the clean sheet. The Dustdevils applied consistent pressure throughout the match, tallying seven more shots on goal that were kept out by the Falcons' keeper.
With the victory, TAMIU improves its Lone Star Conference record and now looks ahead to another road test, traveling to Dallas Baptist on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
