Canyon, TX – The Dustdevils opened the 2025 season in Canyon Texas to participate in the BritKare Lady Buff Classic hosted by West Texas A&M. The Dustdevils won match one against Western Colorado by a score of 3-1, but dropped their second match to Oklahoma Baptist 1-3.
Match 1 vs. Western Colorado
The Dustdevils and Mountaineers opened set one going back and forth on points until TAMIU went on a six-point run to take a 16-11 lead. The set continued with both teams going back and forth, but ultimately, WCU took set one by a score of 25-23 on back-to-back kills.
Set two started with TAMIU holding all the momentum as they jumped out to a quick 12-5 lead. The momentum stayed with the Dustdevils, as they took the set with a commanding 25-14 victory.
The third set, similarly to the first, was very back and forth, with neither team really able to go on a run. The Dustdevils took the set 25-17, capitalizing on the eight attack errors from the Mountaineers.
The Mountaineers went on a mini run to open set four, jumping out to a 3-0 lead, but TAMIU answered back with a 4-point run of their own to take a 5-4 lead. The Dustdevils took advantage of a couple more runs, stringing together some momentum to take the set 25-22 and earn the 3-1 victory.
Mia Molina shined for TAMIU with 11 kills, 15 digs and 2 service aces.
Aryana Ledet recorded a match-high 13 kills alongside 2 service aces.
Natalia Cisneros recorded 22 assists and 10 digs.
Match 2 vs. Oklahoma Baptist
The Dustdevils and Bison went back and forth in set one until a 7-point run gave the Bison the win by a score of 25-21.
Set two saw both teams trading blows yet again, but TAMIU rallied to take the second set 25-19.
The Bison kept the momentum in sets three and four to take the match three sets to one.

Danea King both recorded eight. King also recorded three blocks.
The Dustdevils are back in action tomorrow against Western Colorado at 9:00 a.m. and Colorado State University Pueblo at 3:30 p.m.
