Mastella was a member of the Heartland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
2009-2010/2012-2013: Sacramento City College
Mastella started his collegiate athletic career playing from 2009-10 and 2012-13 for Sacramento City College. During his time at Sacramento City College, Mastella received an Associate of Arts in Behavioral Science degree. Mastella was also awarded the All Big 8 conference team in 2012-2013.
High School: Oak Ridge
In High School, Mastella lettered in Basketball for (4) years. While attending high school, Mastella made the All Conference teams 2 years in a row.

Mastella was a member of the Nov Cal warriors for 2 years.
Personal:
Mastella is the son of Debbie and Pete Mastella. He is a brother to Brett Mastella. He is a transfer student from Sacramento City College. He chose TAMIU because he loved the family oriented environment, as well as loved the campus and coaches mindsets. Mastella’s most inspirational figure is Jerry Rice. Mastella’s future aspirations include playing professional basketball, or become a coach. In his spare time, Mastella likes to play golf, listen to music, play the piano and bass guitar.
