Prior to TAMIU:
Jones spent two years at Lamar State College-Port Arthur and played under Coach Lance Madison. At LSCPA, he helped lead his team to the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament and posted 9.7 points per game with 4.3 rebounds per game.

HIGH SCHOOL:
Jones graduated from Nederland HS and played three years under Coach Brian English. At NHS, he averaged 17.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 assist and was named First Team All-District and Offensive MVP.

PERSONAL:
Jones is the son of Arnelle Prevost and Darrell Jones, and has four siblings. His cousin, J'Covan Brown, played basketball at the University of Texas and currently plays professionally in Israel. His cousin, Mickey Woods Jr., played basketball  for NAIA Milligan University. Jones is majoring in kinesiology with a minor in psychology.
