Summary

Biography

2017-18:
Wright had a record breaking senior campaign where he started in 28 games while leading the Heartland Conference in total steals and assists. His 62 steals tied Matthew Culliver Jr.’s record set back in 2013-14and are the 10th most in Heartland Conference history. He tied the school record for most steals in a game with seven against Southwestern Adventist on Dec. 3. His 145 assists are the second-most in a single season in program history as he is one of three players to have 140 or more assist in a season. He recorded a career-high 10 assists against St. Mary’s on Dec. 9 in TAMIU’s Heartland Conference opener. He averaged a team-high 12.4 points per game going 122-of-300 from the field, 54-of-149 from 3-point range and 70.0% from the free throw line. His 31-point performance against top-seeded Dallas Baptist in the Heartland Conference was the highest scoring game for a Dustdevils since Feb. 20, 2016. He went 6-of-9 from 3-point range against the Patriots while recording five assist and three steals. Recorded three or more steals 11 times, three or more assists 26 times and led the team in assists 24 times throughout his outstanding senior season. 

2016-17:
Played in 30 games in 2016-17 during his first season in Laredo logging 452 minutes off the bench. He finished season average 3.9 points per game on 40-for-110 (.364) shooting from the field and 22-for-66 (.333) from three. He also shot .636 from the free throw line making 14 of his 22 attempts. He had 50 rebounds, 28 assists and 15 steals. He scored in double figures six times including a season-high 13 against St. Edward’s on Feb. 9. Had a season-high four assists on Arkansas-Fort Smith (Jan. 28) and SEU (Feb. 9).

Wright played (2) years for the Chargers. He was a (2X) First Team All-Conference.

Wright played basketball for (4) years as a point guard. He was named Team Captain and earned Second Team All-League recognition.

Wright played (1) year as their pointguard.

Personal: Jeremy Wright is the son of Martha and Joseph Wright. He is joined by his siblings Megan, Issac, Cherisse, and Cheyna. Wright chose TAMIU because of comfort level he has as he sees it fit for him to continue his academic and athletic career. His most inspirational figure and favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant. His future aspiration is to be a highly successful screenwriter. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music, spending time with friends, and writing.
