LAREDO, Texas (October 15, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Men's Soccer team took on UT- Permian Basin at home on Saturday. The Dustdevils earned a 3-1 win on Senior Day, moving to 5-8-0 overall (4-6-0 HC).

Seniors Ryan Hodgson and Christian Mendoza celebrated Senior Day with goals en-route to a key Heartland Conference Victory.

Ryan Hodgson put TAMIU up in the 31st minute of play on a penalty kick goal. After a tackle in the box, Hodgson sent a shot into the bottom right corner of the net, his sixth goal of the season. 

The Falcons would battle back, tying the game in the 38th minute on a breakaway goal. 

After 45 minutes of play, the Falcons and Dustdevils were knotted up at one. Mendoza would change things for TAMIU in the 54th minute. Michael Iskander crossed a ball into the center fo the box where Mendoza headed a shot into the back of the net. Mendoza's goal marked the first of his career. 

Up 2-1 with two minutes remaining, Rafael Montabes netted his fourth goal of the season. Funcia Kenneh played a ball into the box where Montabes connected for the goal, putting TAMIU up 3-1 in the 88th minute. 

The Dustdevils controlled play throughout, out-shooting the Falcons 18-5. Roberto Molina picked up the win, playing all 90 minutes in net. 

Head Coach Claudio Arias commented after the game, "We didn't play as well as we have on other occasions but we take the win and the opportunity to send out our seniors with a victory."

TAMIU will play the remainder of the regular season on the road. The Dustdevils travel to Claremore, Oklahoma on October 20 for a matchup with Rogers State. Play is set to begin at 7:30pm CST.
