LAREDO, Texas (October 8, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Volleyball team continued its home stand on Saturday. TAMIU matched up with Newman University at the TAMIU KCB. The Dustdevils fell in three straight sets, moving to 1-15 overall (1-6 HC).
TAMIU had their best game of the season at the net, blocking nine Jet attacks.
Set one saw TAMIU fall 15-25. Newman jumped out to an early lead, aided by two scoring runs, defeating the Dustdevils.
Set two saw a closer game on both sides of the net. The Dustdevils picked up the first two points of the set, leading through the first half. A late scoring run from Newman would seal the game, with TAMIU falling 25-23.
The third set saw TAMIU fall eight points back late in the set, with Newman winning 25-17.
Nadiah Fry played her best game of the season at the net, recording eight total blocks. Fry's eight blocks break a single-match record, previously set in 2012.
Ramey Gardner led the Dustdevils with 11 kills, picking up one ace and two blocks.
Miranda Fino recorded 12 assists, with
Alejandra Bustamante recording 15 digs.
TAMIU is on the road for their next matchup. The Dustdevils will take on St. Edward's on October 20. The game will take place in Austin, Texas.
