LAREDO, Texas (March 13, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team closed out a series with UT- Permian Basin Sunday. The Dustdevils defeated the Falcons 3-2. TAMIU is now 10-11 overall (2-1 HC).
Tied at one through the top of the eighth, TAMIU struck twice in the bottom of the inning.
Ian Acosta lined single to left field for the first run, scoring
Jacob Tello. TAMIU took the 2-1 lead before an errant throw allowed
Sergio Pollorena to score. After eight innings, TAMIU led 3-1. The Falcons struck once in the top of the ninth before
Daniel Edmondo shut the door recording a strikeout to end the game.
Alex Medina and Acosta each recorded an RBI on the day. Pollorena notched two (2) hits, crossing the plate twice.
Dustin Labit started on the mound for the Dustdevils, throwing seven (7) innings. Labit allowed no earned runs on five (5) hits, striking out six (6). Edmondo relived Labit in the eighth, throwing the final two innings. Edmondo picked up his first win of the 2016 campaign allowing just one hit.
The Dustdevils kick off a road trip on March 16 in Durant, Oklahoma. TAMIU will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State. First pitch is set for 2 pm.
