Fort Smith, Arkansas (March 20, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team closed out a Heartland Conference series with UAFS Sunday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 5-7 loss. TAMIU is now 11-14 overall (2-4 HC).
Trailing late in the ballgame, TAMIU put together a rally.
Alex Medina got things going in the seventh with an RBI single, scoring
William Mora.
Ian Acosta pushed the second run across on a groundout to third. The eighth had more scoring in store for the Dustdevils.
Nathan Halas lined an RBI single, scoring
Jacob Tello.
Sergio Pollorena followed that with an RBI single down the right field line. TAMIU's final run came on an RBI double from Acosta. The Dustdevils cut the lead to two before the final out was recorded.
Pollorena and Medina each picked up two (2) hits and RBI. Acosta went 1-4 with two (2) RBI.
Dustin Labit took the mound for the Dustdevils. Labit went seven innings, allowing five (5) hits.
Nick Perales relived Labit, throwing a perfect inning, striking out one (1).
The Dustdevils return home on Tuesday, March 22. TAMIU will take on Texas A&M Kingsville. First pitch is set for 2 pm at Jorge Haynes Field.
