ARLINGTON, Texas (March 4, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team started a three game series with Arlington Baptist University on Friday. The Dustdevils picked up their sixth win of the season with a 12-3 victory over the Patriots. TAMIU is now 6-9 on the season.
The Dustdevils got things started early, pushing two runs across in the first.
Jeffrey Morgan led off with a triple,
Abel Aguilar drove Morgan in with an RBI double.
Alex Medina followed that with an RBI double of his own.
Ian Acosta and
William Mora added RBI doubles in the third, putting TAMIU up 5-2. Up 7-3 after six (6) TAMIU added three runs in the seventh, and two (2) in the eighth. The Patriots wouldn't score another run, leading to the final score of 12-3.
Medina, Morgan, and
Jeremy Valadez recorded three (3) hits apiece. Mora recorded three (3) RBI, Medina,
Abel Aguilar, and
Alexander Cabezas each added two (2) RBI.
Osvaldo Raya picked up his third win of the season, throwing six (6) innings. Raya struck out five (5), allowing just three (3) runs on seven (7) hits.
Justin Diaz and
Daniel Edmondo relieved Raya, combining for three (3) innings pitched. Neither pitcher allowed a hit or run. Edmondo struck out one (1).
The Dustdevils close out the series Saturday in Arlington. TAMIU will play two seven inning games First pitch is set for 5:30 pm.
