LAREDO, Texas (March 8, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Softball team took on #25 Tarleton State on Tuesday. The Dustdevils split games with the TexAnns, moving to 13-16 overall.
TAMIU took game one in dramatic fashion. Down 8-5 in the eighth inning, the Dustdevils pushed four runs across the plate, walking off for the win. A bases loaded walk got things started for TAMIU.
Chelsea Capello followed that with a single to center, scoring
Brenda Parnin.
Alyssa Acuna played the hero, singling to left center, scoring
Brandi Giles and
Brittany Mussett. The TexAnns would take game two by a score of 4-3.
Brenda Parnin finished 5-7 at the plate, crossing the plate four (4) times, driving in one (1) run.
Krissy Sardelich finished 4-6 with one (1) RBI.
Giles picked up the win in game one, pitching one (1) inning, striking out one (1).
Krystal De La Cruz threw seven (7) innings, striking out five (5).
Delainy Thompson took the loss in game two. Thompson went seven (7) full innings, striking out four (4), allowing just six (6) hits.
The Dustdevils continue Heartland Conference play on Friday March 11. TAMIU will take on the Oklahoma Panhandle State. First pitch is set for 1 pm at Dustdevil Field.
