GOODWELL, Oklahoma (April 1, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball began a three game series with Oklahoma Panhandle State on Friday. The Dustdevils came away with a 7-4 win in game one and a 10-0 win in game two. TAMIU moves to 14-17 overall (5-6 HC).
Game 1: TAMIU 7, OPSU 4Nathan Halas came across for the Dustdevils first run on an error.
Abel Aguilar used a second error following a second error. Halas than drove in two runs with a double. TAMIU would end a four run fourth inning with an RBI single from
Arturo Guajardo.
Ian Acosta added another run for TAMIU in the fifth with an RBI single, scoring
William Mora. The Aggies would push three runs across in the bottom of the inning, cutting the lead to two. Mora gave TAMIU an insurance run in the final inning with a solo home run, leading to the final score of 7-4.
Osvaldo Raya picked up the win for TAMIU, throwing a complete game. Raya struck out five Aggies, allowing four runs on six hits.
Game 2: TAMIU 10, OPSU 0Sergio Pollorena put TAMIU on the board early in game two with a three-run blast.
Osvaldo Rosas followed with a two-run home run two batters later. TAMIU would put up five more runs in the sixth, opening up a 10-0 lead. The Dustdevils sixth run came across when
Jeffrey Morgan drove in
Alexander Cabezas. Pollorena would pick up his fourth RBI on a single down the left field line, scoring Morgan. Halas used an RBI single of his own to score Mora, putting TAMIU up 8-0. Pollorena scored on a wild pitch and Halas came across for the tenth run on a Rosas single.
Dustin Labit threw a seven inning complete game shutout to pick up the win. Labit allowed just four hits, striking out seven Aggies.
The Dustdevils conclude the three game series Saturday. First Pitch is set for 12 pm CST.
