LAREDO, Texas (April 6, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team took on the Angelo State Rambelles in a mid-week matchup on Wednesday. TAMIU took a 0-9 loss in game one and fell 5-6 in eight innings in game two. TAMIU is now 19-27 overall.
Game 1: TAMIU 0, ASU 9Game one saw the Dustdevils no-hit by Rambelle pitching. TAMIU worked the count to the tune of four walks but were unable to push a run across the plate.
Brenda Parnin earned two of the teams four walks, moving her season total to 24. The Rambelles used 10 hits to score nine runs en route to the win.
Game 2: TAMIU 5, ASU 6Alyssa Acuna put the Dustdevils on the board early in game one. Acuna drove in Parnin on a RBI infield single putting the Dustdevils up 1-0 in the first. Acuna would continue her game two success with a second RBI single, scoring
Chelsea Capello. ASU would battle back, putting up four runs in the fourth. Acuna would pick up her third RBI in the fifth, crushing a double. TAMIU came back to tie the game in the sixth. Parnin roped a two RBI double, scoring Capello and
Krissy Sardelich. With the International tie-breaker in effect, the Rambelles pushed a run across in the eighth, taking game two 6-5.
The Dustdevils will be back in action Friday, April 8. TAMIU will take on the University of Texas Permian Basin Falcons in a three game Heartland Conference matchup. Friday features a double header. First pitch is set for 1 pm at Dustdevil Field.
