CLAREMORE, Oklahoma (January 26, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Men's Basketball team traveled to Claremore, Oklahoma to take on Rogers State on Thursday night. The Dustdevils were dealt a 56-72 loss, moving to 13-7 overall (7-3 Heartland Conference).
First Half:
The Dustdevils jumped ahead early in Thursday's matchup. TAMIU held a four point advantage through the first five minutes of action, holding that lead until 12:25 remained. Rogers State came back to take the lead after a 7-2 run that lasted just over three minutes. RSU would stretch their lead to six before the Dustdevils came within two points with five minutes remaining. After 20 minutes, RSU pushed lead back to six, putting TAMIU behind 30-36 at the half.
Second Half:
TAMIU cut the Hillcat lead to just one early in the second half but the Hillcat offense built on their halftime lead midway through the second half. The final five minutes proved costly for the Dustdevils as the Hillcats opened the largest lead of the game. Rogers State went up by 16 before the final buzzer sounded, leading to the final score of 56-72.
Kenny Hatch led TAMIU with 17 points in the loss.
Bunja Yaboe finished the night with seven rebounds and eight points.
The Dustdevil bench contributed 17 points while TAMIU scored 26 points in the painted area.
